Update to the Bowling Green Police Department Officer Involved Shooting
Date of News Release: 11/02/2006
((BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) -- As a part of the on-going investigation into the officer involved shooting that occurred in Bowling Green on October 31, 2006, on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, autopsies were conducted by the State Medical Examiner's Office on both Bowling Green Master Police Officer David Whitson and Rojelio Gonzalez-Pacheco.
Evidence collected during the autopsies was submitted to the Kentucky State Police Forensic Laboratory for testing. Preliminary testing indicates that the bullets recovered from both bodies are consistent with the duty ammunition carried by the two other responding Bowling Green Police Department officers.
These are preliminary test results. The individual tests for each officer's weapon are pending.
The investigation also indicates that no other shots were fired during the incident.
The investigation continues by the Kentucky State Police-Bowling Green Post.
