2005 Annual Activity Report

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - The Post Commander, Captain Bill Payton of the Kentucky State Police, Post 3 is reporting the following activity for the 2005 calendar year.
Troopers and Detectives issued a total of 20,985 citations of which 7,527 were for speeding, 1,558 for no seatbelts, and 102 for no child restraint. 537 people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Troopers issued 5,724 courtesy notices investigated 1,224 accidents, of which 67 were fatalities and assisted 2,907 motorists, while inspecting 27,609 vehicles.
Detectives and Troopers investigated 15,597 complaints, and opened 1,908 criminal cases, and made 3,848 criminal arrests, and investigated 45 non-criminal cases.
Troopers also worked 8,835 programs and special details during 2005.
The Post Commander, Captain Bill Payton said, "Our Post receives numerous calls for service each year and we investigate a numerous variety of complaints. We continually strive to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service to citizens of the Commonwealth." Captain Payton also stated that, "one fatality is too many, and the Kentucky State Police in conduction with other State, County, and Local Law Enforcement Agencies will work diligently to reduce the number of fatalities, injury accidents, and drivers under the influence on our roadways in 2006."
