Date of News Release: 12/12/2006

Madisonville, KY. - On December 10, 2006, Trooper McPherson conducted a traffic stop in Nortonville, KY. The traffic stop quickly turned to a drug investigation due to the odor of Marijuana being present in the vehicle. After requesting additional officers, Trooper McPherson searched the occupants and the vehicle. The search of occupants revealed that the operator, Joseph Ladd, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A passenger, Kimberly Abbott, was found to be in possession of a single Dilaudid pill. The vehicle search revealed a gas can that contained several hypodermic needles and smoke straws in it. Mr. Ladd, Mrs. Abbott, and the other three passengers were arrested and transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center. Upon arrival, one of the passengers, Phillips Phelps, advised Trooper McPherson that he had more Dilaudid pills in his sock. Once inside the jail, it was discovered that Mrs. Abbott possessed additional Dilaudid pills hidden in an undisclosed location. Each of the occupants were charged, respectively, with the charges associated with their individual crimes.
