Christian County Death Investigation

Date of News Release: 12/04/2006

Fearsville, KY (Christian County) - On Monday, December 04, 2006 at approximately 7:33 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Christian County EOC in reference to a burned vehicle that had a body inside of it. The location of the complaint was 14750 Ovil Road (KY 189) southeast of Fearsville.

Upon units' arrival, one deceased subject was found inside the vehicle. Dorris Lamb, the Christian County Coroner, pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as James "Jimmy" C. Adkins age 27 of Hopkinsville, KY.

An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville, KY. The cause of death was probable smoke inhalation. At the present time, foul play is not suspected. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police and the Christian County Coroner's Office. KSP Detective Scott Smith is the lead investigator.

The Christian County Sheriff's Department, Fearsville Volunteer Fire Department, Christian County EMS and the Christian County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
