Fatal Crash on US 181 in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 11/28/2006

Muhlenberg County - Mrs. Carole Skipworth was southbound on KY 181, near the Todd County line, operating an empty bus on her way to the Todd County School District. Mr. Millard Johnson was also southbound on KY 181. For unknown reasons, Mr. Johnson did not see the bus traveling in front of him and ran into the rear of it. His vehicle became lodged under the bus and was drug for approximately 831 feet before the vehicles came to a complete stop. Mr. Johnson's vehicle became engulfed in flames due to the collision and the fire quickly spread onto the school bus. Mrs. Skipworth was able to escape the bus with very minor injuries and was treated and released from the Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mr. Johnson succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner. An autopsy for Mr. Johnson is scheduled for November 28, 2006. The Kentucky State Police had KY 181 completely closed for approximately five hours due to the collision. The crash continues to be under investigation by Trooper Knight.
