Drug Arrest in Caldwell County

(Caldwell County) - On Sunday 11-05-06 Tprs. D. Holliman and C. King were following up on a complaint of subjects trafficking in marijuana. Upon their arrival at 693 Rufus Road the troopers made contact with a juvenile male and a male adult. In plain sight was a small quantity of suspected marijuana and stolen property. The property owner arrived a very short time later and granted the troopers consent to search the property. Marijuana, items known to be drug para, numerous firearms and additional stolen property were found. The marijuana was in excess of 5 lbs. Mr. Joseph R. Slaton and Mr. Charles E. Young were charged with Trafficking Mraijuana> 5lbs, Cultivating Marijuana > 5 plants, Poss of Drug Para., and Rec. Stolen Property 0/300. The drug charges are enhanced as a result of the firearms being present. Mr. Slaton was also charged with Unlawful trans. w/Minor 2nd. Both were lodged in the Caldwell Co. Jail. The juvenile was cited and released to a family member. The investigation is continuing.
