DUI and Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

(Hopkins County) - Trooper Brandon McPherson observed a vehicle turning onto Grapevine Road from Crowley Lane without using its turn signal. Tpr. McPherson conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Robert Jason Grigsby. Tpr. McPherson noticed that Mr. Grigsby seemed nervous and his eyes were glossed over. Mr. Grigsby agreed to do a field sobriety test. While patting Mr. Grigsby down after he exited his vehicle, Tpr. McPherson found a small bag of marijuana in Mr. Grigsby's front right pocket. Mr. Grigsby failed his field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.

A further search of the vehicle revealed 5 more bags of marijuana (with a combined total weight of approximately 5.4 ounces), 3 small bags of crystal methamphetamine (weighing approximately 4.2 grams), 3 diazepam pills, and several drug paraphernalia items including digital scales, rolling papers, and glass pipes.

Mr. Grigsby was charged with the following: Failure to Signal, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence Of Drugs 1st Offense, Trafficking Marijuana - Less Than 8 Oz. 1st Offense, Drug Paraphernalia - Buy/Possess 1st Offense, Trafficking in Control Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine), and Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense. Mr. Grigsby was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
