Injury Crash on Involving DUI in Hopkinsville, KY

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - Joshua A. Wood age 25 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 1983 Ford F-150 westbound on Substation Road. Avanell L. Purtee age 44 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 2002 Ford F-150 eastbound on Substation Road. Both subjects were approaching a one-lane bridge. Mr. Wood failed to yield right of way and proceeded across the bridge while Mrs. Purtee was already crossing it. Mr. Wood's vehicle struck Mrs. Purtee's vehicle head-on. Mrs. Purtee was transported by a private vehicle to Blanchfield Army Hospital complaining of back and neck pain. Mr. Wood was not injured. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. Mr. Wood was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense and lodged in the Christian County Detention Center. Tpr. Mark Franklin investigated the crash that occurred on July 29, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.
