Injury Crash on Edward T. Breathitt Parkway in Hanson, KY

Hanson, KY (Hopkins County) - Wesley C. Wilson age 53 of Tomball, TX was operating a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer southbound in the left lane (passing lane) on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway at the 51.5 mile-marker. The tractor-trailer was hauling approximately 26,000 pounds of miscellaneous machine parts. For an unknown reason, the vehicle exited off the left shoulder of the roadway and traveled into the median. Mr. Wilson overcorrected in an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the roadway and lost control. The tractor-trailer overturned on its left side. Mr. Wilson was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. His passenger, Kelly M. Robertson age 37 of Spring, TX, was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt. At the present time, the southbound lanes of the parkway are closed at the 54 mile-marker. Traffic is being detoured off at the 54 mile-marker and back on at the 50 mile-marker. The closure is expected to last several hours. Tpr. Ben Sawyer investigated the crash that occurred on June 27, 2006 at 5:33 a.m. The Hanson Volunteer Fire Department and the Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
