Stats From Post 2 For May 2006

For the month of May 2006, Post 2 reports the following activity:
- Arrested 55 Drunken Drivers
- Issued a Total of 2,194 Citations
- Issued 887 Speeding Citations
- Issued 336 Seatbelt Citations
- Issued 20 Child Restraint Citations
- Issued 1,573 Courtesy
- Investigated 104 Crashes
- Inspected 5,224 Vehicles
- Assisted 192 Stranded Motorists
- Answered 1,129 Criminal Complaints
- Opened 177 Criminal Cases
- Made 208 Criminal Arrests
There were two (2) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in May 2006. Three (3) people were killed as a result of the crashes. A double fatality crash occurred in Hopkins County and a single fatality occurred in Christian County. Two (2) victims were not wearing seatbelts and the other victim was a pedestrian.
Through May 31, 2006 seventeen (17) people have been killed in sixteen (16) crashes in the Post 2 District. Nine (9) victims were not wearing seatbelts, two (2) victims were not wearing a helmet, three (3) victims were wearing a seatbelt, two (2) victims were pedestrians and the seatbelt status of one (1) victim is unknown.
Through May 31, 2005, fifteen (15) people had been killed in fourteen (14) crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
