Pedestrian Killed By Train in Hopkins County, KY

Date of News Release: 04/05/2006

(Hopkins County) - John C. Bell Jr. was working along side the railroad tracks at US 41 and KY 112. Mr. Bell walked across the railroad tracks unaware the train was so close, and was struck by the CSX Train. Witnesses stated the train engineer did sound the warning whistle indicating that the train was passing by the intersection prior to the accident.

Mr. Bell was transported to the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY by the medical center ambulance service where he succumbed from his injuries. The fatal accident continues to be under investigation by Trooper Brandon McPherson Unit 678. Trooper McPherson was assisted at the scene by Medical Center Ambulance Service, Earlington Fire Department, and the Hopkins County Coroner.
