Injury Crash on I-24 in Oak Grove, KY

Oak Grove, KY (Christian County) - Jonathan M. Tate age 19 of Dolton, Ill. was operating a 1991 Ford Explorer eastbound on I-24. Kevin B. Wyatt age 28 of Pell City, AL. was operating a 2002 Volvo tractor-trailer eastbound on I-24. Tate was traveling in the right lane (slow lane). Wyatt was traveling in the left lane (passing lane). Tate's vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Tate overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle. Tate's vehicle traveled into the path of Wyatt's vehicle and the two vehicles struck. Both vehicles traveled into the grass median where they came to rest. Tate was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries. He was listed in critical, but stable condition. It is unknown if Tate was wearing a seatbelt. Wyatt was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The crash occurred on April 3, 2006 at approximately 3:40 p.m. It remains under investigation by Tpr. Michael Dennis. Tpr. Darron Holliman, Oak Grove Police Department, Christian County EMS & Rescue and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement assisted at the scene.
