Injury Crash on Edward T. Breathitt Parkway

Morton's Gap (Hopkins County) - Danny Folz age 43 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 1996 Kenworth tractor-trailer northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway. Markesha McCombs age 17 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Parkway. Mr. Folz was traveling in the right hand lane (slow lane). Ms. McCombs was traveling in the left lane (passing lane). Apparently, Mr. Folz did not see Ms. McCombs' vehicle because she was in his blind spot. Mr. Folz changed lanes into the left lane and the rear of his tractor-trailer struck Ms. McCombs' vehicle. Her vehicle traveled into the median and overturned coming to rest in the southbound lanes. Ms. McCombs and one of her passengers, Michelle Snelling age 34 of Hopkinsville, KY, were transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Her other passenger, Jamarius Leavell age 6 months of Hopkinsville, KY, was not injured. Mr. Folz was not injured. All subjects involved were wearing restraints. Tpr. Billy Sumner investigated the crash that occurred on March 24, 2006 at 9:55 a.m. Tpr. Mike Manzanares, Hopkins County EMS and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
