Cold Case Murder Investigation
Date of News Release: 01/27/2006
Manitou, KY (Hopkins County) - Sheila Jo Hargrove (30YOA) was murdered on June 4, 1991 on Roscoe Veasey Road at her residence. Her body was subsequently found on Bean Cemetery Road in a strip pit. After 14+ years of investigation, the Kentucky State Police has received new evidence involved in this case.
At this time, Kentucky State Police investigators are following up on leads attached to the new evidence. Anyone having knowledge of the events directly involved in this murder are encouraged to contact Trooper Steve Silfies or Sergeant Stacey Blackburn as soon as possible for an interview. Tpr. Silfies and Sergeant Blackburn may be contacted at 1-270-676-3313 or 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Any and all persons who are proved to have knowledge of ANY FACTS involving the murder of Sheila Hargrove are subject to be charged with Complicity to Commit Murder if they do not disclose this information to the Kentucky State Police before being interviewed.
According to Sgt. Blackburn, COMPLICITY to commit a crime involves the fact that a person knew a crime was going to be committed or had been committed and failed to stop the perpetrator by notifying the police. Basically, withholding information involved in a murder case is a crime, unless you are the perpetrator of the murder. We know the parties involved and do not want to involve presumably innocent persons in this murder case when all they are required to do is talk to us about the case.
