Update to Fatal Fire in Providence, KY

Date of News Release: 01/10/2006

Providence, KY (Webster County) - An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville. The victim, Helen M. Hillsbery age 71, died as a result of smoke inhalation. The fire has been ruled accidental. It appears that an electrical wire in the kitchen failed and started the fire.

On Monday, January 09, 2006 at approximately 7:56 a.m., the Kentucky State Police responded to a complaint of a residential fire located at Westside Trailer Court on Tower Drive in Providence. Helen Hillsbery was inside the trailer at the time of the fire. She was not able to escape.

Assisting with the investigation was the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Providence Fire Department.
