Update to Fire & Death Investigation

Crofton, KY (Christian County) - An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville. The victim, Rex D. Parker age 61, died as a result of probable smoke inhalation. The fire has been ruled accidental. It appears that either a space heater or an extension cord ignited some clothing on fire.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at approximately 8:07 a.m., the Kentucky State Police responded to a complaint of a residential fire located at 18703 Collins Bridge Road. Four subjects were inside the trailer when the fire started. Three subjects escaped unharmed. The victim was unable to escape.
Assisting at the scene were the State Fire Marshal's Office, Christian County Coroner's Office, Christian County EMS, Dawson Springs EMS, Christian County Sheriff's Department, Northwest Christian Volunteer Fire Department, Westside Volunteer Fire Department, Crofton Volunteer Fire Department and Dawson Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
