Search Was Done Today at Two McCracken County Schools

Date of News Release: 10/05/2006

(PADUCAH, KY.) Due to the recent outbreak of school violence in past weeks, a routine search was done today at two McCracken County Schools. Canine Officers from the Kentucky State Police, Paducah Police Department, and Graves County Sheriff's Department along with detectives from the McCracken Sheriff's Department and McCracken County School Resource Officers searched the parking lots at Heath and Lone Oak High Schools. Canines were walked around the exterior of vehicles in search of illegal drugs, while detectives visually inspected the interior of vehicles looking for weapons and other illegal contraband. There was nothing found at either school during the two-hour sweep. The routine search was done at the request of the McCracken County School Resource Officers.
