Two Men Arrested in Graves County

(Graves County) - On Saturday, September 23rd, Kentucky State Police arrested two men in connection with a string of offenses that occurred early Saturday morning in Graves County. Kentucky State Police say that at approximately 7:40 am a 911 call was received from James Hobbs of Old Dublin Road in Mayfield. Hobbs stated that someone had just shot a cow located on his farm and drove off in a blue Chevy pickup. Tpr. Dean Patterson responded to the scene to discover multiple bullet wounds to the cow. Seven 9mm shell casings were also recovered from the scene.
At approximately 8:30 am Tpr. Patterson received a complaint of a hit and run motor vehicle collision that took place in Melber in north Graves County. A description of a two tone blue Chevy pickup was given as the vehicle that fled from the accident scene. At approximately 9:00 am, Tpr. Patterson observed a vehicle matching the description given on US Highway 45 north of Mayfield. A traffic stop was made with the vehicle where Trooper Patterson made contact with Mr. Danny Thomas Sr.,31 of Mayfield, and Mr. Mitchell Davis, 23 of Mayfield. A 9mm handgun was located on the dash of the pick up truck along with a box of 9mm shells which matched those recovered from Old Dublin Road earlier in the morning. Both men were taken into custody and lodged in the Graves Co. Jail. Mr. Thomas was charged with DUI, speeding, open container, and criminal mischief 1st. Charges are pending for cruelty to animals and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Davis was charged with criminal mischief 1st. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
