Pursuit and Arrest in Graves County

(MAYFIELD, KY) - While conducting a Traffic Safety Checkpoint at KY 339 and US Highway 45 Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 1 charged a Graves County Resident with multiple traffic offenses. Jessica F Shaw, 25 year-old, Water Valley Resident stopped at the traffic safety checkpoint and was unable to produce a drivers license at which time she was instructed to pull to the side of the road. Ms. Shaw, driving her 1995 Pontiac Grand AM, then accelerated away from the checkpoint causing Troopers to pursue. After a 16-mile pursuit, Ms. Shaw continued to travel down KY Highway 94 where the pursuit ended after she struck an earth embankment. Ms. Shaw was not injured. Trooper James Green charged Ms. Shaw with Disregarding Signals from Officers Directing Traffic, Fleeing and Evading 1st offense, Six Counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st, Driving Under the Influence 1st offense, Reckless Driving, Expired License Plate, Display of an Illegal or Altered License Plate, No Insurance (non-owner) and Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operators License. Ms. Shaw was lodged in the Graves County Jail. Mayfield-Graves County Ambulance Service and Graves County Sheriffs Department assisted Kentucky State Police on scene. Investigation continues with Trooper James Green.
