An Illinois Man Arrested on Various Charges in Fredonia, KY

(Fredonia, KY) - Kentucky State Police, Eddyville Police Department, and the Lyon County Sheriff's office conducted an investigation into a stolen vehicle at the Regency Inn, in Eddyville, which lead to the arrest of an Illinois man. While Eddyville Police Officer Robert Harris was conducting the investigation, Kentucky State Police Post 1 was notified by a member of the Crittenden County Ambulance Service that a vehicle fitting the description of the stolen vehicle was on US 641 near Fredonia in Caldwell County. The Ambulance Service Member advised State Police that the suspect in the reported stolen vehicle was asking for directions to Marion, KY. While the suspect was talking to the ambulance service member, Troopers from Post 1 were able to respond to the location. Upon arrival by Trooper Brad Ramsey and Trooper Bob Winters the suspect fled the area. After traveling approximately three blocks, the subject bailed from the vehicle and then fled on foot.
The suspect, Luis Serna, 26 years old, was charged by the Kentucky State Police for; Failure to signal, reckless driving, no operators license, DUI 1st, fleeing and evading 1st Motor Vehicle, and fleeing and evading on foot.
Subsequently, Eddyville Police Department charged Mr. Serna with Theft by unlawful taking over $300 (automobile). He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
Investigation continues with The Kentucky State Police and The Eddyville Police Department.
