KSP Rifle Team Wins State Championship at Ft. Knox KY

(Henderson, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Rifle Team competed in the Kentucky State Team High Power Rifle Championship on July 15, 2006 at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

An image of Det. Steve Manley, click here to enlargeThe Kentucky State Police team consists of 6 KSP officer's; two who work here at Post 16 in Henderson. Det. Steve Manley of Philpot, Kentucky and Trooper Jerry Critchelow of Hartford, Kentucky, which also serves as the coach of the KSP team.

The event consists of several stages of fire, standing 10 rounds slow fired at 200 yards, sitting rapid fire 10 rounds at 200 yards, prone rapid fire 10 rounds at 300 yards and prone slow fire at 600 yards, all with open sights.

An image of Trooper Jerry Critchelow, click here to enlargeThe team competes at regular matches during the year and will be competing in the National High Power Rifle Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio in August.

In the past several years the KSP team has placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the national contest.

The Troopers are using the M-14, .308 caliber, high powered rifle issued to them by the Kentucky State Police and the events are paid for by the Kentucky State Police Professional Association.

We are very proud of the Trooper's and their dedication to this event, being prepared and knowing that we have the best working out of Post 16 in Henderson.
