Altercation Being Investigated By KSP

(Henderson, KY) - The Kentucky State Police are currently conducting an investigation that occurred at the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.

The KSP responded to the detention center by request of the Daviess County Jailer David Osborne. It is reported that on 2-2-06, two inmates were involved in an altercation in a dayroom located near several cells.

It appears that Michael Wimberly, age 25 and Robert L. Lee, age 24 began fighting which was broken up by other inmates just after 11:00 p.m. on February 2nd. A short time later both subject again had another altercation in Lee's cell; it to was stopped by inmates in that cell. Around 2:00 a.m., Lee requested his cellmate to summons a deputy, the deputy removed Lee to the medical unit located at the jail. Around 1:04 p.m. on February 3rd we received a call from the detention center of the altercation.

Officer's with the Kentucky State Police responded to the jail and was advised that Lee had been taken to Owensboro Mercy Hospital for treatment. Upon speaking with Mr. Lee, Lee advised that he did not want to press charges against Mr. Wimberly. The officer returned to the detention center and spoke with Wimberly. Wimberly advised he did not want to press charges against Mr. Lee. The officer in charge of this case spoke with Daviess County Attorney and was advised that charges should not be presented at this time without a complainant. At this time charges have not been filed in this investigation and the case is still pending.
