Post 15 Monthly Activity Report For October

Date of News Release: 11/02/2006

(Columbia, KY) - During the month of October 2006, there were 70 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were thirteen fatalities:
GROVER EVANS, Tompkinsville, Kentucky was killed in Monroe County on 10/02/06,
LARRY D. HAWKINS, Red Boiling Springs, TN was killed in Monroe County on 10/02/06,
DIMPLE HAWKINS, Red Boiling Springs, TN was killed in Monroe County on 10/02/06,
ROBERT E. CALVIN, Tompkinsville, Kentucky was killed in Monroe County on 10/02/06,
GARY C. BROCKMAN, Russell Springs, Kentucky was killed in Russell County on 10/05/06,
ZACHARY BLAKE RODGERS, Liberty, Kentucky was killed in Casey County on 10/07/06,
JUSTIN A. ANDERSON, Dubree, Kentucky was killed in Cumberland County on 10/15/06,
HEATHER M. GARRETT, Lebanon, Kentucky was killed in Marion County on 10/25/06,
MORGAN E. MASON, Lebanon, Kentucky was killed in Marion County on 10/25/06,
JIMMY D. BLEDSOE, Columbia, Kentucky was killed in Casey County on 10/27/06,
ROBERT E. PIERCE, Greensburg, Kentucky was killed in Taylor County on 10/28/06,
ETHAN WALKER PIERCE, Greensburg, KY was killed in Taylor County on 10/28/06, and
DYLAN HUNTER PIERCE, Greensburg, Kentucky was killed in Taylor County on 10/28/06.

This brings our yearly fatality count to 50 compared with 42 through this same period in 2005.

State wide fatality count stands at 746 compared with 821 through this same period in 2005.

During the month of October 2006, there were 1254 citations written, 354 courtesy notices written, 2035 vehicles inspected, 1035 complaints answered, 82 motorists assisted, 94 criminal cases opened and 206 criminal arrests made.
