Quadruple Fatality on KY HWY 163 in Monroe County

(Columbia, KY) - Four people were killed and another was injured in a three- vehicle collision on Kentucky Highway 163 7 miles north of Tompkinsville at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Grover Evans age 76, of Tompkinsville, KY was traveling south on KY HWY 163 in a 1998 Ford Contour when he ran into the back of a farm tractor and implement being driven by Druie Wood age 45 of Tompkinsville, KY . Following the collision with the farm implement the vehicle rolled onto its' side into the northbound lane, and was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Cory Wheeler age 16 of Tompkinsville, KY.

Mr. Evans and his three passengers: Larry D. Hawkins age 53 of Red Boiling Springs, TN, Robert E. Calvin age 83 of Tompkinsville, KY, and Dimple M. Hawkins, age 64 of Red Boiling Springs, TN. Were all pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner's Office.

Wheeler was treated & released at the Monroe County Hospital.

Wood was not injured.

Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper Toby Young conducted the investigation with additional on-scene assistance from Trooper Ricky Brooks, Sgt. Ken Hill, the Monroe County Coroner's Office, Rescue Squad, and Sheriff's Department.
