Stats From Post 15 For August 2006

(Columbia, KY) - During the month of August 2006, there were 42 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were five fatalities: TERRY R. DAVIS, Nancy, Kentucky was killed in Russell County on 08/02/06, MATTHEW HAMRICK, Columbia, Kentucky was killed in Taylor County on 08/15/06, JACKIE N. GRIDER, Tompkinsville, Kentucky was killed in Cumberland County on 08/25/06, SHERRY L. LEDBETTER, Celina, Tennessee was killed in Cumberland County on 08/25/06, and DANIEL ZAVALA, Bowling Green, Kentucky was killed in Metcalfe County on 08/23/06. This brings our yearly fatality count to 34 compared with 33 through this same period in 2005.

State wide fatality count stands at 587 compared with 619 through this same period in 2005.

During the month of August 2006, there were 1371 citations written, 332 courtesy notices written, 2746 vehicles inspected, 990 complaints answered, 67 motorists assisted, 104 criminal cases opened and 348 criminal arrests made.
