Injury and Fatal Crash on KY 61 in Adair County, KY

Columbia, KY - The Kentucky State Police from the Columbia Post are investigating a fatal traffic accident on KY 61 approximately 2 1/2 miles south of Columbia, with one fatality and four others injured.
Carole Neat, age 46, of Columbia, KY, was operating a 1997 dodge caravan southbound on KY 61. The Neat vehicle crossed the center-line and struck a 1998 Chevrolet pickup that was northbound, and being operated by Tony Grider, age 50, of Columbia, KY. The Dodge Caravan operated by Neat then spun into the path of a 1991 Toyota Pickup being operated by Anthony Price, age 43, of Columbia, KY. The Dodge Caravan and the Toyota Pickup came to final rest off of the roadway near the impact area. The Chevrolet Pickup being operated by Grider continued off of the right shoulder and overturned several times, coming to rest in a creek. Grider and a passenger, Adam Grider - 20 years of age were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the pickup truck. Also in the pickup truck was a 3 year-old infant that was restrained in a child safety seat. Tony Grider was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident by Adair County Coroner, Rick Wilson. The Adair County ambulance service transported Adam Grider, Carole Neat, the 3 year-old infant and Anthony Price to the Westlake Regional Hospital. The 3 year old infant was treated and released for minor injuries. Adam Grider, Carole Neat and Anthony Price were airlifted to the University of Louisville for treatment of their injuries.
The wreck occurred at approximately 10:55am causing KYy 61 to be closed for approximately four hours. Traffic was detoured by the Kentucky Highway Department.
Trooper Greg Brown was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Rob Winsett, Trp. David Long, Tpr. B.J. Burton, Detective Kevin Hunt, Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstructionist Trp. Lanny Jewel and Tpr. Toby Young also assisted along with several units from the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County Rescue, Breeding Fire Department.
The accident is still under investigation by Tpr. Brown.
