Fatal Crash at the Intersection of KY-70 and KY-206 in Casey County

(Columbia, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Columbia Post investigated a two vehicle fatal traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of KY-70 and KY-206 in Casey County.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. Michael Woodrum, with assistance from Tpr. Kendra Wilson, the Casey County Sheriff's Office, Casey County E.M.S., Casey County Rescue, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, and the Casey County Coroner's Office.

Darrell Barnett, age 46, of liberty, was operating a 1989 GMC pickup truck north on KY-206, and failed to stop at a stop sign, as he was merging eastbound on KY-70. The pickup truck drove into the path of George Clements, age 66, of Liberty, who was operating a 1993 Oldsmobile. Both vehicles struck head-on. The Casey County Coroner pronounced Clements dead at the scene. Mr. Barnett was transported to the Casey County Hospital where he was treated and released. Neither driver was wearing seatbelts.

No charges have been filed against Mr. Barnett, and the accident continues to be under investigation by Tpr. Woodrum.
