Fatal Crash on I-64 in Carter County, KY

(Ashland, KY) - The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a fatal accident which occurred yesterday (6/19/06) in Carter County KY on Interstate 64.

At 1:04 PM the Kentucky State Police Post in Ashland was notified of a single vehicle collision on I-64 at the 180-mile marker eastbound. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Ralph Wallace (46yoa) had been operating a 1979 Cadillac 4-door passenger car east bound on I-64. He lost control of his vehicle and slid off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned and ejected one of the two passengers riding with Mr. Wallace. Juanita B. Wallace (68yoa) was ejected from the vehicle and received fatal injuries. The Carter County Deputy Coroner, Ronnie Wallace, pronounced her dead at the scene. The third passenger, (Juvenile) Keisha Wallace (8yoa) also received multiple injuries. Both the Driver and Juvenile passenger were transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV for their injuries sustained. The Accident is still under investigation by Tpr. Chris Carter and alcohol was not a factor.
