KVE Officers Help Save the Life of a Two Year Old Injured in a Vehicle Accident

(Ashland, KY) - In reference to the injury accident at the 149 mm on I-64 in Carter County yesterday KSP Tpr. Matt Girdwood discovered this accident was first reported by a truck driver who stopped at the KVE weigh station and informed officers there of the accident. After KVE Officer, Mike Ross, & KVE Inspector, Bill Moore responded to the scene they located two year old Carlene Cathcart who had been ejected from the vehicle. Inspector Moore discovered that two -year old Carlene was unresponsive and not breathing. Inspector Moore, with the assistance of Officer Ross began CPR on the child and she eventually began breathing on her own. Carlene & her mother were both taken to Cabell Huntingon Hospital were they were admitted with extensive injuries. Carlene remains in critical condition but doctors expect the child to make a full recovery. Emergency personnel at the hospital indicated that Inspector Moore, & Officer, Ross' s response and actions at the scene saved the life of two year old Carlene.
