Fatal Crash on KY 15 in Letcher County

(Hazard, KY) - On 12/19/2006 at approximately 17:43 hours Kentucky State Police Post13 received a 911 call of a multi-vehicle accident on KY 15 by-pass in the Whitesburg Community of Letcher County.

A 1992 Chevrolet Astro Van operated by Timothy M. Hogg Jr. of Whitesburg was traveling south when he crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Pontiac operated by Stephanie Burton. The van continued on and struck a 2003 jeep operated by Betty Blair. A fourth vehicle, a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer that was attempting to avoid the collision, was also involved in the crash.

Timothy M. Hogg Jr. was pronounced dead at the Whitesbugh ARH by an emergency room physician. One patient was air lifted to Holston Valley Trauma Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Everyone else involved in the accident was treated at the Whitesbugh ARH. Mr. Hogg was not wearing his safety belt. The accident remains under investigation by Tpr. Loren Holliday.
