State Capitol and Republican Party Headquarters Vandals Arrested

(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky State Police, Post 12 Frankfort arrested three Franklin County men on 2 counts each of Criminal Mischief 3rd. On Monday morning, July 14, 2006, Kentucky State Police received a complaint of vandalism at the State Capital.

Vandals used blue paint to deface the front of the State Capital by spraying obscenities and sexually explicit objects. The graffiti was sprayed across several stone panels. The cost of the damage and clean up was $400.00.

While investigating the criminal mischief at the State Capital State Police received information about vandalism done at the Republican Party Headquarters, located at Third and Capitol Avenue. Trooper Robert Hawkins of the Frankfort Post was able to make the arrests on both cases with good investigative work.

On July 27, 2006 Kentucky State Police arrested Jason Antonio Metoyer, age 20 and Ernest W. Clark III, age 21. On July 28, 2006 Kentucky State Police arrested Vincent Johnson age 25.

The three men have been charged with 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd each. Criminal Mischief 3rd is a class B misdemeanor punishable by no more than 90 days and or not more than $250.00 fine. They have been lodged in the Franklin County Regional Jail on a $1,000.00 cash bond each.

"I commend the troopers of Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort for their diligent efforts in this case," said KSP Commissioner Jack Adams. "These timely arrests send a clear signal that the citizens of the Commonwealth will not tolerate deliberate and unlawful damage to public property paid for and maintained by their hard-earned tax dollars. They deserve better."
