Anderson County Standoff

(Frankfort, KY) - On Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 1:39 PM, the Lawrenceburg Police and the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call in the two hundred block of Horn Drive, in Lawrenceburg, KY. The officers arrived and found the victim Carol McDonald. They also located Ricky D. McDonald armed with a handgun. He threatened to harm himself and the police and barricaded himself inside his residence.

At 1:52 PM, the Lawrenceburg PD then called the Kentucky State Police for assistance. Kentucky State Police, Post 12 Frankfort hostage negotiators attempted to get Ricky D. McDonald to give up peacefully but he refused.

Kentucky State Police Special Response Team was called to the scene. They also attempted to negotiate with Mr. McDonald with no success. Kentucky State Police SRT then introduced gas into the residence. At 6:38 PM, Kentucky State Police took Mr. McDonald into custody without further incident. He has been lodged in the Franklin County Regional Jail and charged with Assault 4th, Terroristic Threatening, Criminal Mischief 3rd and Disorderly Conduct. His bond has been set at $6,000.00 cash. The incident lasted 4 hours and 53 minutes.
