High Rate Pursuit and Arrest in Frankfort, KY

(Frankfort, KY) - Trooper Dixon was south bound on US 127 when a silver Saturn four door was west bound on KY 676 ran the red light and almost struck him.

Trooper Dixon initiated his lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. He pursued the vehicle south bound on US 127 to Leonardwood Drive then King's Daughter Drive onto C. Michael Davenport Blvd.

The driver traveled at speeds up to 80 mph pulling away from Trooper Dixon. He lost control at the Chevron gas station at C. Michael Davenport and Cardwell Lane and ran over a large Chevron sign and fled the vehicle on foot.

Trooper Dixon was unable to stop and skidded into the rolling vehicle as he pulled into the parking lot causing very minor damage to his cruiser. Trooper Dixon ran after the driver as he crossed Cardwell lane and around a retirement home. Officer Morgan of Frankfort Police Department arrived on scene and joined the foot pursuit. Trooper Dixon struck the driver once in the leg with his flashlight while they were running and both fell to the ground. Trooper Dixon hurt his back during the fall. The driver got back up and attempted to flee so Officer Morgan tackled him to the ground and held him while Trooper Dixon cuffed him.

The driver, Wesley Cribbs was charged with resisting arrest, DUI, failure to obey traffic control device, reckless driving, criminal mischief and fleeing or evading 1st and 2nd. The passenger, who remained in the vehicle, Benjamin Cox was charged with AI. Cribbs was treated & from FRMC for a sprained ankle.
