The suspect allegedly crashed his vehicle into at least two sheriff vehicles, causing moderate-severe damage to both vehicles. The suspect, armed with at least two firearms, retreated into his residence.

At approximately 3:49, Kentucky State Police arrived on the scene, and after confirming that no one else, other than the suspect, remained in the residence, troopers attempted to establish communication with the suspect.

At approximately 5:15, the suspect fled the residence and entered a vehicle. A short distance down the road, the suspect drove over previously deployed tire-deflation devices. The suspect continued his attempt to flee the scene and encountered officers. The suspect disregarded police commands and pointed a weapon at the officers. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:15 a.m. by the Spencer County Coroner, Roger Thurman. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on Monday.

None of the KSP officers were injured during the incident. The Taylorsville Police Department officer was treated and released for a minor knee injury.

Pursuant to standard KSP policy Captain Porter and Sergeant Owens will be on administrative duty.
