Fatal Traffic Crash on KY 312 in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY) - On Sunday, November 26, 2006, at 9:00 AM the Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle traffic crash with injury on KY 312 in Laurel County. Upon arrival Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Trooper Greg Hill determined that a 1993, Ford, Festiva, driven by Tammy R. Lewis, 46, Corbin, KY was westbound on KY 312 when it crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane and struck a 1990, Chevrolet Van, head-on. The driver of the van is identified as John R. Jones, 64, London, KY. Jones was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY for treatment of his injuries (condition unknown). Lewis was fatally injured during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner's. Trooper Hill was assisted at the scene by Trooper Matt Reid, the Laurel County Sheriff's Office and the Laurel County Coroner's Office. Trooper Hill continues the investigation.
