Fatal Traffic Crash Clay County

(LONDON, KY) - On Tuesday, November 07, 2006, at 0914 AM the Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash with injury on US 421, 4 miles south of Manchester, in Clay County. Trooper Chuck Johnson determined that a 1998, Ford, Escort passenger car, driven by Franceska Smith, 17, Manchester, KY was Northbound on US 421 when the driver lost control and skidded into the path of a 2005, Dodge, Pickup driven by Teddy Smith, 53, Manchester, KY. Franceska Smith was fatally injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clay County Coroner Jim Trosper. Teddy Smith was transported to the Manchester Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Trooper Johnson continues the investigation.
