Date of News Release: 08/19/2006

(LONDON, KY) - On Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 1238 AM the Kentucky State Police received a report of a vehicle in Lake Cumberland at the Cumberland Point Boat Ramp in Wayne County, KY. Upon arrival Trooper David Cornett learned that a 1995 White Chevrolet Corsica had entered the water causing the death of one person. Kentucky State Police Detective Doug Boyd responded to the scene to investigate the death and discovered the vehicle was driven by Wynema Worley, 27, of Bronston, KY. Detective Boyd learned that Worley and her two children, ages 6 and 8, were traveling to relative's residence near the boat ramp when the incident occurred. Worley and the children were transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset where the victim, age 8, was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Worley was admitted to the hospital for treatment; the other child, age 6, was treated and released. Further investigation into the incident is continuing by Detective Boyd.
