Fatal Accident in Wayne County

(LONDON, KY) - On Monday June 26, 2006 at approximately 4:55 P.M. Kentucky State Police at London was notified of a fatal accident that had occurred approximately 12 miles east of Monticello, KY on KY 90 in Wayne County.
According to Kentucky State Police accident Reconstructionist Detective Don Trosper a 2000 Ford Ranger Pickup was traveling westbound onKY 90 at a high rate of speed, when the vehicle attempted to pass a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban on the right (gravel) shoulder. Unit-1 (ford pk.) lost control on the gravel striking unit-2 (chev. Sub.) in the passenger front. Unit -1 continued out of control crossing KY 90, striking an embankment and overturning several times. The driver of unit-1 Christopher G. Polsten (17) Monticello, KY. The passenger William T. Bowling (17) Monticello, KY was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected and thrown approximately 116 feet from the area of impact to final rest. Mr. Polsten was treated at the Lake Cumberland Medical Center. Unit -2's driver Jay Matthew Scott (38) Hamilton, Ohio received no injuries. Unit-1 occupants were wearing no seatbelts, unit-2 occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
Accident Reconstructionist Don Trosper was assisted at the scene by Trooper Sean Dixon, Wayne County E.M.S., Wayne County Coroners Office, Wayne County Sheriffs Department and, the Monticello Fire Department.
