Death Investigation in McCreary County

Date of News Release: 05/01/2006

(LONDON, KY) - On Sunday April 30, 2006 at approximately 6:00 a.m. Kentucky State Police at London responded to a house fire with possible entrapment.

Detective Billy Correll responded and, was told that the victim Ashlie Shane age 18 and, Ashley King age 21 went to sleep at a residence located on King Valley Road. They awoke at around 6:00 A.M. to find the residence fully engulfed in flames. Ms. King was able to escape but, the victim Ashlie Shane was not. Ms. King was transported to Scott County Tennessee Hospital where she is being treated for smoke inhalation.

No foul play is suspected and an autopsy has been scheduled for Ms. Shane.

Detective Billy Correll is conducting the investigation and, was assisted by Detective Henry Nunn with the Kentucky State Police, Doug Silver with the State Fire Marshall Office, Pine Knott Fire Department, McCreary County E.M.S. and, the McCreary County Coroners Office.
