Drug Bust in Harlan County

(BIG LAUREL, KY) On 10/05/2006 after a three-month investigation by Detective Roy Pace and Keith Saylor of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan, a buy bust was conducted in the Big Laurel community of Harlan County. Along with the buy bust a search warrant was executed and it resulted in the seizure of 500 prescription painkillers, a small amount of marijuana, $7000.00 in cash, a 2005 Chevrolet truck, a Yamaha ATV and over 20 weapons. Arrested was James Miniard age 70 of Big Laurel, Ky. and was charged with five counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree, a class "C" felony that carries 5-10 years in prison and one count of Trafficking in Marijuana less than 8 oz. a class "A" misdemeanor that carries up to 12 months in jail. Other charges are pending in this case. Assisting in the search warrant were detectives from Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations East, agents from the ATF and the DEA. This case is still under investigation by Detective Roy Pace Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
