Burglary Investigation Leads to an Arrest of Man Wanted by the State of Maine

(Pikeville, KY) - On January 6, 2005 at approximately 3:00 AM Trooper Randy Surber responded to a prowler complaint at the Pizza Hut at South Williamson, KY.
Upon his arrival he discovered a broken window and heard noises inside the business. After commanding the perpetrator, John L Coleman to exit the business, Mr. Coleman fled the scene on foot. Then a short foot pursuit ensued in which Trooper Surber was able to apprehend Mr. Coleman, 35 of Turkey Creek.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Coleman was under the influence of drugs, wanted in the State of Maine for burglary related charges and had also burglarized the South Williamson Dairy Queen. Mr. Coleman was transported to the Pike County Detention Center where he was charged with Burglary 3rd degree (2 counts), Fleeing or Evading, Giving False Name and Address, Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest, Menacing and Fugitive from Another State.
The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Trooper Randy Surber.
