Cold Case of Unidentified Remains of Madison Man Identified
Date of News Release: 10/17/2005
(Richmond, KY) - On Monday, 10-10-05 a positive identification was made in the case of the "Madison Man". The identification of Douglas Martin Prouty from Madison Wisconsin was made through DNA comparison with the victim's biological siblings. Mr. Prouty was found in the Berea area on Thanksgiving Day in 1993. Cause of death was asphyxia. The manner of death is undetermined at this time. An exhumation of the remains will be conducted . Additional examination of the remains will be performed by Dr. Emily Craig, State Forensic Anthropologist with the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. A date has not been set at this time for the exhumation. . This is a "cold case" that is currently being investigated by Lt. Mark Merriman.
