Date of News Release 02/02/05
(Richmond, KY) - On 2/1/2005 at 2210 hours, the Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond was notified of a green Chevrolet Blazer being operated recklessly on south bound I-75 in Madison County.
A check of the vehicle's registration plate revealed the blazer had been reported stolen in Ohio. Trooper Stuart Adams observed the vehicle at the 85 milemaker southbound. Trooper Adams initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle after activating his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle pulled over and stopped. Before Trooper Adams could exit his vehicle , the vehicle took off and fled southbound. The pursuit continued southbound to exit 77 at speeds well over 100 mph . The driver of the vehicle attempted to exit the interstate and was traveling too fast to make the turn safely. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole. None of the occupants were injured.
The stolen vehicle was being operated by a fifteen year old male. He was taken into custody along with another juvenile and an adult. They were all lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
