Trafficking in Controlled Substance Conviction in Simpson County, KY

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - On November 18, 2005 Justin Kirk of Franklin, age 25, was found guilty of Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree and being a Persistent Felony Offender. The guilty verdict was the result of a two-day trial in the Honorable Judge William R. Harris's courtroom. The arrest stemmed from a six-month investigation into illegal trafficking in cocaine in the city of Franklin. Investigation was conducted by Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations West Branch and assisted by the Franklin Police Department and the Simpson County Sheriff's Office. Several subjects have been arrested during the investigation and more arrests are pending. The Simpson County jury sentenced Justin Kirk to 26 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole for ten years. The Commonwealth Attorney Clint Willis prosecuted the case. Final sentencing is at a later date.
