Date of News Release: 06/18/2005

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - KSP Bowling Green received a complaint from John Madondo at 13:56 hours regarding his vehicle being stolen from the Rest Area on I-65 at the 39 mile-maker just North of Smiths Grove.

Units were advised to attempt to locate the vehicle. At 14:05 hours Trooper Eaton observed the vehicle heading Northbound on I-65 around Cave City. Unit attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, at which point, the driver began to accelerate. Additional units and surrounding agencies were notified of the pursuit. Unit remained behind the vehicle and the pursuit continued on I-65 North Bound from Cave City with speeds averaging around 100 mph. Kentucky State Police Units from Elizabethtown Post set stingers up near Upton and waited for the suspect. The suspect ran over the stingers and the pursuit came to an end without further incident.

The vehicle only sustained a blown tire as a result of the tire stingers. Both suspects (Joseph Scott and Tonya Bruce) were arrested and lodged in the Barren County Jail.
