2005 Trooper Island Campers From Madisonville And Mayfield
Date of News Release: 06/10/2005

Madisonville, KY - During the week of May 30th through June 3rd, fifty-three (53) boys and girls from the Madisonville and Mayfield Post area spent a week at the Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp. Before leaving for the island, the campers were treated to a cookout at the Madisonville Post courtesy of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 396.
During the week on the island, campers participated in many activities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, fishing and many other outdoor activities. Trooper Island is located on Dale Hollow Lake and was established in 1965. The free summer camp is for underprivileged boys and girls ages 10 to 12 that may not have a chance to attend a summer camp. Each year approximately 700 campers attend the camp from across the state.
Trooper Island is a non-profit organization, which operates on private and business donations. If you would like to make a donation to Trooper Island, you may contact your local Kentucky State Police Post. Contributions are tax-deductible. Currently the Kentucky State Police are raffling a 2005 Harley Davidson Road King Motorcycle (license # ORG0000633). Tickets may be purchased from any Kentucky State Police Post.
On Friday, September 2, 2005 the Madisonville Post will be holding their annual Trooper Island Golf Tournament at the Central City Country Club. The entry fee is $50.00 per person or $200.00 per team. To register you may contact Tpr. Stu Recke at 1-270-676-3313.
