Drug Arrest in Nortonville, KY

Date of News Release: 05/03/2005

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - On May 2, 2005 at approximately 7:55 p.m., Tpr. John Komar conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Matthew C. Scott age 27 of Henderson, KY in the Pantry Parking lot in Nortonville. Tpr. Komar had stopped Mr. Scott for a traffic violation. While talking with Mr. Scott outside of his vehicle, Mr. Scott attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Mr. Scott was apprehended. During the investigation, Tpr. Komar located suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Tpr. Komar located pills on Mr. Scott. Several firearms were also located in the vehicle and on Mr. Scott. Mr. Scott was arrested without further incident. Mr. Scott was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center and charged with the following offenses:

  1. Trafficking Methamphetamine
  2. Trafficking Marijuana Over 8 ozs. Under 5 lbs.
  3. Possession Controlled Substance 2nd Degree
  4. Receiving Stolen Property-Firearm
  5. Carrying Concealed Deadly weapon (5 counts)
  6. Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree
  7. Possession of Radio That Sends/Receives Police Messages
  8. License To Be In Possession
  9. No Turn Signal
