Dispatcher Shirley Arnold Retires

An image of Captain Gannon (left) and Shirley Aronold (right)Madisonville, KY - On Friday, February 11, 2005 Shirley Arnold was presented with her retirement certificate honoring more than twenty years of service. Captain Leslie Gannon, Commander of Post 2, presented Shirley with her certificate.

Shirley began dispatching in February of 1984 at the Hopkinsville EOC. She dispatched there until May 1 of 1985 when she went to work for the Kentucky State Police. She was assigned to the Bowling Green Post and dispatched there for three years. In April of 1988 she requested a transfer to the Madisonville Post so she could be closer to her family and home. For the past sixteen and one-half years, Shirley has dispatched for the Madisonville Post.

Shirley resides in Hopkinsville where she built a home four years ago. She has two children, a son who lives in Calhoun, KY and a daughter who lives in St Louis, MO. She has two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Shirley plans to travel and spend more time with her family and friends now that she is retired. Shirley stated she is looking forward to enjoying her home where she loves to work in the yard.

Shirley Arnold is the fourth dispatcher to retire from the Madisonville Post and the first female dispatcher to retire from there. Shirley will be greatly missed, as both a wonderful person and dispatcher.
