Drug Arrest in Christian County, KY

Crofton, KY (Christian County) - On February 9, 2005 at approximately 1:28 P.M., officers from the Kentucky State Police and the Christian County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at a James P. Smith residence on East Princeton Street in Crofton. James P. Smith age 45 and Donray L. Harris age 31 were both present at the residence when the search warrant was executed.
Inside the residence, officers discovered a cigarette paper containing suspected crack cocaine, marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia and a firearm. A bag of marijuana and a pack of rolling papers were found on Harris. In a vehicle belonging to Harris, officers located a safe containing suspected crack cocaine and a set of digital scales. Another firearm and ammunition was also located in the vehicle.
James P. Smith was charged with possession controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense-cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Donray L. Harris was charged with trafficking controlled substance 1st degree 2nd offense-cocaine, possession controlled substance 1st degree 2nd offense-cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia 2nd or subsequent offense and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. All charges were enhanced due to the presence of the firearms. Both men were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
Tpr. Bob Winters was the arresting officer. Tpr. Brian Gann and Det. Mark Nichols-Christian County Sheriff's Department assisted him.
