Stolen Firearm Arrest in Princeton, KY

Princeton, KY (Caldwell County) - On February 6, 2005 at approximately 1450 hours, troopers stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway 9 miles east of Princeton for a traffic violation.
Troopers contacted the Princeton Police Department for assistance from their K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a handgun was discovered in a bag belonging to John Bennett age 49 of Milford, OH. Mr. Bennett was a passenger in the vehicle. A records check on the handgun revealed that it had been reported stolen from Newport, KY. Mr. Bennett was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property-Firearm (D Felony) and Possession of Handgun by a Convicted Felon (C Felony). He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. The driver of the vehicle was cited for traffic offenses and released.
